Look no further. Last week, Netflix just premiered its newest anime-inspired series titled <em>Trese,<\/em> an adaptation of the award-winning Filipino comic book of the same name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Set in Manila, <em>Trese<\/em> follows Alexandra Trese, a detective who solves supernatural crimes. The series heavily portrays Filipino folklore and mythology through its dark fantasy and horror aesthetics.<br><br>With a total of six 20\u201323-minute episodes that are offered in Tagalog, English and Japanese dubs, <em>Trese <\/em>boasts star-studded casts in its Tagalog and English line-up.<br><br>Filipino-American actress Liza Soberano voices Alexandra Trese in the Tagalog dub while Filipino-Canadian Shay Mitchell for the English dub.<br><br>The English dub cast also includes Hollywood stars with Filipino ancestry such as Nicole Scherzinger, Darren Criss, Dante Basco, Manny Jacinto and Lou Diamond Phillips.<br><br><em>Trese <\/em>is produced by BASE Entertainment and Filipino American animator Jay Oliva. The comic book creators, illustrator Kajo Baldisimo and writer Budjette Tan, also worked closely to execute the series.<br><br>\u201cKajo and I started <em>Trese<\/em> in 2005 and after all these years, we are finally reaching a global audience,\u201d Tan said in an interview with AnimeNewsNetwork.com.<br><br>\u201cI feel we were able to get here now because we never stopped working on this little story that we wanted to tell.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Trese is now available to stream on Netflix.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Jim Bea Sampaga Are you looking for your next binge-worthy series?
