Just as I often\u00a0write devotionals\u00a0on God’s goodness\u00a0and\u00a0His role in our lives,\u00a0Mother\u2019s Day prompts us to cherish and honor the women who gave us life.

Our\u00a0mothers\u00a0were instruments in God’s grand plan, carrying us in their wombs,\u00a0and\u00a0cradling us in their arms at birth. It’s a divine bond, a bond meant to withstand the trials of life.

In my life,\u00a0three\u00a0amazing\u00a0mothers\u00a0stand out. Rosie (my\u00a0mother-in-law), Millet (my wife), and Verlantina (my\u00a0mother) \u2014\u00a0each embody the essence of\u00a0motherhood\u00a0in their unique ways.

Rosie\u2019s husband died when she was only in her early 30s and with five children to take care of. \u00a0She was a single\u00a0mom\u00a0for decades.\u00a0She was a resilient single mother who exemplified the epitome of strength\u00a0amid\u00a0adversity.

Despite facing the heartache of losing her husband at a tender age, she chose to be the cornerstone of her family’s foundation.

She built a sari-sari store, worked as a dressmaker, and all other opportunities that come her way just to earn the extra peso to support her family. With five children relying on her, she embraced the challenges of single parenthood with unwavering faith and determination.

Rosie’s unwavering trust in God’s provision and her sacrificial love are testaments to her extraordinary character and unyielding spirit.

To the\u00a0people who know Rosie,\u00a0she\u00a0may be one person, but to\u00a0her five children,\u00a0she is\u00a0the world. Such is the power of a\u00a0mother’s love.

Millet,\u00a0the\u00a0mother\u00a0of my four children is like the Proverbs 31 woman: “Strength and honor are her clothing; she is confident about the future. Her mouth is full of wisdom; kindly teaching is on her tongue. She is vigilant over the activities of her household; she doesn’t eat the food of laziness.”

I will not forget the times when our children were still babies and got sick, Millet would carry them in her embrace\u00a0the whole night.\u00a0Many times, she will ask me to lead our family in prayers.

It was she who initiated family bible studies as our children were growing. Yes, we have had challenging times.

But\u00a0no\u00a0storm is insurmountable with her because of her strong faith in God. While she radiates warmth and tenderness, infusing every corner of our home with love, she tempers it with the right kind of discipline.

Millet’s love, a reflection of God’s grace, is\u00a0the spirit\u00a0of hope that guided\u00a0our family through life’s twists and turns.

Verlantina,\u00a0my\u00a0beloved\u00a0mother, epitomizes the beauty of love amidst hardship. Despite facing the harsh realities of poverty, she showered\u00a0us\u00a0six children with boundless affection.\u00a0Although my dad started as a mere street laborer, my\u00a0mom\u00a0gave us words\u00a0that comforted us and gave us wisdom.

Her\u00a0sacrifices\u00a0were the\u00a0true essence of maternal love.\u00a0One thing I will never forget when I passed by\u00a0my parent\u2019s\u00a0bedroom is seeing my\u00a0mom\u00a0kneeling by the bedside praying\u2026. Daily!

I truly believe that I am what I am today because of her prayers.\u00a0She may have passed away, yet her prayers have transcended time and space. She told us children that she prayed for our\u00a0well-being\u00a0years\u00a0in the future.

Verlantina’s\u00a0reliance on God’s grace in the face of adversity\u00a0is a profound reminder of the power of faith and resilience.\u00a0Behind every strong individual, there is a\u00a0mother\u00a0who believes\u00a0in them first.

For those like me, whose\u00a0mothers\u00a0have passed, let’s make\u00a0Mother\u2019s Day a\u00a0tribute\u00a0to their legacy, keeping their memories close to our hearts. And for those fortunate enough to still have their\u00a0mothers, let’s cherish them wholeheartedly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
