The Maui Filipino Chamber of Commerce announced recently the recipients of its prestigious 2025 Gintong Pamana Leadership and Scholarship Awards.
The 2025 Gintong Pamana Leadership and Scholarship Awards banquet will be held on Wednesday, June 11, at the Maui Beach Hotel Ballroom, starting at 5:30pm.
The awards recognize outstanding members of the Filipino community in Maui who have demonstrated leadership and professional excellence in serving the community. Meanwhile, student award winners will receive $1,000 scholarships.
The five Gintong Pamana Leadership Awardees are:
Jessica Acop – Program Director at Maui Health
Everett Balmores – Communications Systems Specialist with the Maui Emergency Management Agency
Joel Navarro – CEO of the Maui Pono Foundation
Chef Bernardo “JR” Oao – Owner of several restaurants under Oao Sushi LLC
Jingo Magic Tamayo – Media Personality, Maui Taxi Operators
For this year’s scholarship awardees, 15 students were chosen trhough a rigorous vetting process by independent judges. The students are:

Sarah Cariaga – Lahainaluna High School
Michelle Castillo – Maui High School
Kamuela Dahilig – H.P. Baldwin High School
Taylor Deocares – H.P. Baldwin High School
Willyn Domingo – Maui High School
Kalia Kaneta – Maui High School
Victoria Osborn – Seabury Hall
Lilinoe Quitazol – King Kekaulike High School
Micah Sijalbo – Maui High School
Jonah Tapaoan – Maui High School
Sophia Topinio – Lahainaluna High School
Ikaika Wright – King Kekaulike High School
